Yan Zhiqing hung up before Old Lady Yan could find out about Jiang Changdai’s plans.

Old Lady Yan did not enter the room and quietly closed the door while Yan Zhiqing was watching her Korean drama and could not hear anything. She took the tray and went downstairs.

Old Master Yan had just walked over from the backyard and was holding a watering can. He spotted Old Lady Yan with the tray she had just brought up. The fruits and snacks did not seem to be touched. He asked curiously, “What’s going on? Zhiqing doesn’t want them?”

Old Lady Yan passed the tray to Aunt Chen and gave her the fruit and snacks.

Aunt Chen opened her mouth and was about to remind her that she was already given a tray.

But she saw that Old Lady Yan did not look very happy. She wondered what had happened upstairs with Yan Zhiqing that had made Old Lady Yan so angry. She did not hear any argument going on from downstairs at all.

So, she said nothing and took the tray away.

Old Lady Yan pulled on Old Master Yan’s arms. “Let’s go. We’ll talk in the house.”

They returned to their bedroom and Old Master Yan realized that he was still holding on to the watering can.

He pouted as he put the watering can aside. “Tell me, what’s going on?”

“Just now when I went upstairs to give Zhiqing something to eat, I overheard her mother calling her.” The image of Jiang Changdai’s face came to her mind as she said this, it was very annoying.

“And guess what? She went to see Lin Chu and had the gall to tell Lin Chu that she was not worthy of Beicheng. She asked her to leave him,” Old Lady Yan was so angry that her insides hurt.

Although Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan often argued, now that he sensed something wrong with Old Lady Yan’s emotions, he quickly comforted her and helped her to the sofa.

“Don’t be so agitated. Even if you’re still healthy, you’re still quite a ripe old age. You need to take better care,” Old Master Yan said as he poured her a cup of hot tea.

There was a flash of viciousness in Old Lady Yan’s eyes when she mentioned about paying with her life.

Even Old Master Yan was grim. One wondered if he, too, regretted not taking care of Jiang Changdai all those years ago.

“That is a disgusting relationship between her and Lu Zhenting. To make Lu Zhenting happy, she wants to marry his daughter to Yan Beicheng, how horrible is that? Lu Weining is a good girl? What good is there?! She can’t even compare to Lin Chu’s toe! What gave her the idea that she could go looking for Lin Chu? And she still has the gall to despise Lin Chu? She should think about what a disgusting human being she is first! I really… I really wish that I could tear her apart!” Old Lady Yan clenched her teeth.

Old Master Yan did not say a word. He let Old Lady Yan continued to vent.

“You have no idea how badly she educated Zhiqing. The way she speaks is terrible. What did Lin Chu even do to her? They’ve only just met once and she’s already bad-mouthing Lin Chu. Every minute, she’s calling out to this Sister Lu. Even she is siding with Lu Zhenting’s daughter. Like mother like daughter!”

When Old Lady Yan stopped talking breathlessly and looked like she was done with her venting, he hurriedly filled up her cup with tea again.

“Have you calmed down?” Old Master Yan asked slowly.

“…” Old Lady Yan glared at him and nodded.

Old Master Yan walked towards the bedside table and pulled open the lowest drawer. There was a stack of notebooks and some writing tools in there. He took out a phone book from the corner and found Jiang Changdai’s number.

“Give her a call and invite her over this Saturday. Get Beicheng and Huaian to come over with his family as well. Of course, invite Lin Chu over too. We’ll give Jiang Changdai a beatdown in front of them and Zhiqing and let her know her place. She looks down on Lin Chu, right? So, we’ll make her see that in our eyes, she can’t even compare to a hair on Lin Chu!” Old Master Yan narrowed eyes and said grimly.

Old Lady Yan thought about this and understood what he was trying to do. She patted Old Master Yan happily on the shoulder, “Well, old ginger is still spicier than most.”

Jiang Changdai was flattered upon receiving Old Lady Yan’s call.

Despite her wrongdoings, she had always hoped to gain the forgiveness of the two elders all these years.

As the reason for that was because of the guilt she felt. Besides that, there was another reason. She wanted to marry Lu Zhenting and display their relationship in the open.

She was very clear that since the death of Yan Beicheng’s father and her return to Ning City, she was unable to marry Lu Zhenting because of the Yan family’s doing.

She had tried to hate them but at the thought of how Yan Beicheng’s father died, she was so filled with guilt that she was unable to hate them.

No matter the reason, all she wanted was to reconcile with the Yan family and start a new life of her own.

In her excitement, she had not given a thought as to why the Yan family had suddenly changed their mind. She did not even link the reason to Lin Chu. She was so busy agreeing to the invite and promising to be on time that she did not notice the abruptness in Old Lady Yan’s voice.
